BEIJING, July 30 -- China has expressed strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to the false content about China in the latest Defense White Paper issued by the Japanese government on July 14, and lodged solemn representations to Japan, said Senior Colonel Ren Guoqiang, spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense on Thursday.
Senior Colonel Ren Guoqiang said that Japan’s latest Defense White Paper has ignored facts, made irresponsible remarks about China’s national defense and military building, and exaggerated the so-called military threat of China. Furthermore, it distorted and discredited China on issues such as South China Sea, East China Sea and anti-pandemic fight, and talked a lot of nonsense on the Taiwan question.
Ren stressed that, at present, China-Japan relations have been in a critical period of improvement and development. China urges the Japanese side to learn from history, look into the future, stop making false statements, and follow the strategic consensus reached by the leaders of two states as a guide.
He added that, Japan should work with Chinese side towards the same goal, and jointly promote the construction of a constructive bilateral security relationship, enhance mutual political and security trust, safeguard regional peace and stability, and promote the continuous improvement and development of China-Japan relations.
