BEIJING, Mar. 1 -- China-US relationship is currently at an important juncture. Both sides gain from cooperation and lose from confrontation, and cooperation is the only right choice, according to a written statement from Information Office of China's Ministry of National Defense (MND) on Monday.
The statement denotes that the two heads of states had reached the consensus that China and US shall improve mutual understanding, promote exchanges and cooperation, and avoid miscommunication and miscalculation during the first call after US President Joe Biden took office. It sent a positive signal to the world and also pointed out the direction for the future relationship between the two countries and the two militaries.
The military relationship between China and US is an important part of the bilateral tie. It is expected in the statement that the US side could make joint efforts in the same direction with China, implement the significant consensus of the two heads of states, follow the spirit of no conflict, no confrontation, mutual respect and win-win cooperation, focus on dialogue and communication, strengthen practical cooperation, manage differences in proper way, and work for the sound and stable development of the mil-to-mil relations.
As for the so-called "China threat theory" hyped up by some US politicians and the declaration of "defeating China in competition" through close cooperation with US allied countries, the Chinese MND’ statement expressed seriously that the military alliance targeting a third party is completely the product of cold war mentality, and such an alliance has been outdated and should disappear in the historical dusts.
The statement stressed that China will actively uphold the concept of community with a shared future for mankind, promote the new international relationship featuring mutual respect, fairness and justice, and win-win cooperation, and adhere to the new vision of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security. At the same time, China will also firmly oppose the zero-sum game, any military alliance with the purpose of confrontation and the absolute security on the basis of unilateral exclusiveness.
