Tian Han, then acting deputy director of the mechanical and electrical engineering unit, was once going to take a professional examination the next day. However, the ship was delayed for docking due to weather reasons. Tian might not be able to take the examination.
After the then Commander Lei Zhongshan reported and got permission from his superiors, the navigation officers revised the sailing plan. Commander Lei personally drove a dinghy and sent Tian to the shore.
Tian will always remember that day. The dinghy was swayed and shaken in the winds and waves. "Although wearing life jackets, we were still soaked when the wave came," said Tian. He climbed up to a nearby civilian pier in the evening. When he turned around, Lei had already driven the boat back into the waves.
Today, Lei has already retired, and Tian has become an old mate among his comrades. "Bi Sheng ship and I are both the witnesses of the development of naval shipborne weapons and equipment," Tian said.
