Kyrgyz President meets with Chinese Defense Minister

BISHKEK, April 30 (ChinaMil) -- Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov met with visiting Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister General Wei Fenghe in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on Monday.

Kyrgyz President Jennbekov extended a warm welcome to General Wei for his visit to Kyrgyzstan and asked him to convey the most cordial greetings and best wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping. General Wei on his part expressed his sincere gratitude to President Jennbekov for sparing the time to meet him and conveyed the sincere greetings and best wishes from President Xi.

President Jennbekov said that Kyrgyzstan and China are important strategic partners, and thanked China for its valuable support. The Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation held on April 25-27 in Beijing has attracted worldwide attention and is of historical significance. Kyrgyzstan firmly supports the Belt and Road Initiative put forward by President Xi, and is willing to work with China to fight against the "three evil forces" of terrorism, extremism and separatism and effectively benefit the people of both countries.

General Wei said that China and Kyrgyzstan are good neighbors, good friends and good partners. In recent years, under the strategic leadership of the two heads of state, the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership has developed rapidly. The cooperation between the two militaries has also yielded fruitful achievements in various fields, effectively safeguarding the common interests of the two countries and regional peace and stability. China is willing to work with Kyrgyzstan to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen strategic communication, deepen exchanges and cooperation, and promote sound development of bilateral military ties.

During his visit, General Wei held formal talks with Raimberdi Duishenbiyev, Chief of General Staff of the Kyrgyz armed forces, and reviewed the honor guards of the Kyrgyz armed forces.
