BEIRUT, Aug. 29 (ChinaMil) -- Chinese and Cambodian peacekeeping forces to Lebanon organized a field discussion event near the “Blue Line” between Lebanon and Israel on August 27, 2018, to exchange experience on conducting efficient landmine sweeping operations.
The event started with a briefing by the two sides on safe and efficient landmine sweeping. The two peacekeeping forces showed their equipment by dynamic demonstration and static exhibition, scene commentary, exchange of equipment, and real minefield operation.
During the demonstration, Cambodian peacekeepers put on protection clothing to conduct simulated landmine clearing operations, while learning demining and minesweeping skills from the Chinese counterpart.
During interaction, the two sides organized a contest about signal source calibration and identification.
During the event, commanding officers of the two peacekeeping forces conducted in-depth exchange of safe and efficient minesweeping experience, analyzed the current situation of minesweeping operations, and coordinated the next steps of joint minesweeping missions.
This event was initiated by the Chinese peacekeeping force to Lebanon, targeting the current security situation and peacekeeping characteristics. The purpose was to promote mutual understanding, exchange experience on landmine sweeping and explosive ordnance disposal (EOD), and enhance coordination in joint minesweeping missions, for win-win results.
Since the 17th Chinese peacekeeping force to Lebanon was deployed to the mission area at the end of May 2018, Chinese peacekeepers have completed the maintenance of 13 security passageways near the Israel-Lebanon “Blue Line”, conducted task surveys for 20 boundary markers which are known as the "Bucket of Peace", cleared minefields of nearly 2,000 square meters, and disposed 385 landmines and other explosive devices.
