LEBANON, Aug. 27 (ChinaMil) –A tactical drill was conducted by participants from the construction engineer detachment of the 17th Chinese peacekeeping force to Lebanon at the shooting range in the headquarters of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) on August 27, in preparation for the upcoming “Steel Storm 2018” multinational joint exercise in mid-September.

The “Steel Storm 2018” is the largest, the highest-level and the most extensive multinational joint exercise in the UNIFIL mission area. The exercise strives to improve the command control relations of the UNIFIL, establish appropriate coordination mechanism and liaise at all levels between multinational peacekeeping troops and the Lebanese government forces.

The construction engineer detachment of the 17th Chinese peacekeeping force to Lebanon will participate in the exercise as a combat team upon the approval of the UNIFIL Headquarters.

The Chinese construction engineer detachment has recently assigned some peacekeepers to conduct all-round combat readiness training. In addition to training on basic tactical movements and special situation management, the Chinese peacekeepers also held live-fire training at the shooting range in the headquarters of the UNIFIL and shared training experience with the UNIFIL staff officers, just in a bid to lay good foundation for successful completion of the upcoming joint exercise.
