Chinese military strengthens border patrol against armed conflict in northern Myanmar

BEIJING, May 18 (ChinaMil) --An armed conflict broke out in northern Myanmar days ago, so far, the conflict has caused three Chinese nationals in Myanmar lost their lives, and three rockets and some stray bullets have fallen into the Chinese territory, said Wu Qian, spokesperson for China's Ministry of Nation Defense, told the press in response to a question about the position and solutions of Chinese military.

Wu said that Chinese military attaches great importance to the issue and has taken effective measures to strengthen border patrol and safety protection on the Chinese side of the China-Myanmar border, and has lodged solemn representations to relevant authorities of Myanmar.

"We call for all parties concerned to the conflict to exercise restraint for an immediate ceasefire, and take concrete and effective measures to prevent such incidents from happening again," Wu said.

The spokesperson stated that Chinese military will further strengthen border control and take all necessary measures to resolutely safeguard national sovereignty security, border stability and the safety of life and property of Chinese people living in the China-Myanmar border area.
