BEIJING, Aug. 23 -- 2022 marks the fifth year of the launch of the PLA Support Base Hospital in Djibouti.

Medical drill

The hospital has dispatched medical teams and rescuers to participate in the Chinese-foreign joint exercises and training in Djibouti. The hospital has also provided real-time medical support for military training of various types organized by the PLA Support Base. The emergency rescue performance of Chinese medical personnel in multiple accidents has showcased their excellent combat-trauma treatment capabilities.

The Chinese PLA Support Base and the Italian Joint Support Base in Djibouti held the "Cooperation-2018.04.ITA" joint medical aid drill on April 25, 2018. The photo taken on that very day shows medical team members from both sides treat a patient with head trauma during the joint medical aid drill.

Academic exchanges

The hospital has carried out various academic exchanges and technical cooperation with Djibouti military medical institutions and military medical units of other countries in Djibouti. Each year, the hospital sends over 100 experts in more than 30 batches to the General Hospital of the Djibouti Armed Forces and the Peltier General Hospital to provide technical assistance and conduct rounds of visits and free clinical treatment.

Free medical service and rescue activities

The PLA Support Base Hospital launched a medical service project to provide eys diseases rounds of visits, free clinical service and cataract surgery for local people in Djibouti, and 113 local people recovered their sight after receiving the free cataract surgeries. Ten doctors and nurses of the hospital were awarded the Independence Day Medals by the Djibouti government.
