After US Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s Taiwan visit, some American politicians have the face to justify it and try to shift the blame by accusing China of escalating the tension and claiming that Pelosi’s Taiwan visit in no way contradicts the US government’s one-China policy. In response to that, the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry called out their lack of knowledge about history and self-reflection, saying “it is high time that the US officials caught up on the history of the Taiwan question”.

More than 170 countries and numerous international organizations have expressed in various ways their firm support for China’s stance on the Taiwan question, which is an overwhelming majority compared with the few countries on America’s side. United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres made it clear that the UN will continue to abide by the General Assembly Resolution 2758, the core of which is the one-China principle.
台湾问题的历史经纬明明白白，两岸同属一个中国的事实和现状清清楚楚。奉劝个别国家，好好补补课，恪守当年白纸黑字的郑重承诺，深刻认识背信弃义、为“台独”势力张目的危险性和危害性。妄图挑战一个中国原则、挑战国际法治和国际秩序，必将遭到国际社会的共同反对，是绝不会得逞的。
The historical ins and outs of the Taiwan question are crystal-clear, and so are the facts and status quo that the two sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to one and the same China. We advise certain countries to brush up on their history lesson, abide by their written commitments, and truly apprehend the danger and risk of reneging on their commitments on the Taiwan question and backing and emboldening the “Taiwan independence” separatist forces. Any attempt to challenge the one-China principle and the international rule of law and order will meet with the collective rejection of the international community and will only head into a dead end.
