The Ukrainian crisis continues to escalate, and dialogue and negotiation are the fundamental ways to resolve the crisis. However, the US, as the initiator of the crisis, has stepped up efforts to suppress and contain Russia instead of promoting peace talks based on its own self-interest, and imposed all-around and indiscriminate sanctions on Russia, even in sports, art and academic fields. This fully exposes the hegemonic behavior of the US that has consistently flouted international rules and undermined the international order.
In recent years, with the deepening of domestic contradictions, the strategic anxiety of the US has continued to intensify. Under the slogan of "America First", the US has only adopted international rules that are in line with its own interests while discarded those that are not. It has repeatedly placed domestic laws above international laws, and flagrantly violated the principles of market competition as well as international economic and trade rules. In addition, the US has generalized the concept of national security, abused its national power to exercise "long-arm jurisdiction" over other sovereign countries, and used fabricated charges to set restrictions to suppress competitors by any means. Not long ago, the US arbitrarily embezzled Afghanistan's overseas assets based on its domestic law, which once again made the world see its robber tactics.
Recklessly withdrawing from international organizations, breaking contracts, and even blatantly coercing international organizations have also been routine operations of the US in recent years. In 2019, the US issued a memo on the status of developing countries in the WTO, strongly demanding that the WTO change its rules within 90 days, otherwise it may take unilateral action. In 2020, the US imposed economic sanctions and entry restrictions on International Criminal Court (ICC) officials and their families just because of their insistence on investigating possible war crimes by US military and intelligence officials in Afghanistan and elsewhere.
What is worse, the US is even better at waging wars by circumventing international rules against sovereign countries. To keep the war machine from being restricted to international rules, the US often bypasses the UN Security Council and ignores objections from other countries and even its allies. In 1999, the US-led NATO brazenly launched military operations against Yugoslavia without the authorization of the UN Security Council. Its operations in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria were the same. The aggressions launched by the US pushed the "law of the jungle" and hegemony to the extreme.
Obviously, some American politicians believe that political prejudice has priority over legal principle, and political conspiracy over justice. They even have lost the minimum sense of awe and responsibility for international rules. It should be pointed out that there is only one system in the world, that is the international system with the United Nations at its core. There is only one order, that is the international order based on international law. And there is only one set of rules, that is the basic guidelines for international relations based on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.
The vicious actions of the US wantonly trampling on international rules and undermining the international order will surely be ditched by the international community and firmly nailed to the pillar of shame in history.
