GUANGDONG, Mar.3 -- Recently, an armored detachment of a brigade of the PLA Navy Marine Corps carried out basic water driving training in a sea area in the west of China’s Guangdong province.
Due to continuous torrential rain, waves in the training area reached up to two meters. Marines had to drive through simulated mine areas, floating fences and serpentine water road , which tested their emergency response and coordination ability.
Experienced crew members were selected to make demonstrations, some of whom have been stationed overseas or participated in international military games.
The training focused on two events, driving through restricted water road, and towing and rescue at sea, which effectively improved the detachment's capabilities of amphibious mobility, self-rescue and mutual rescue under harsh maritime conditions.
