FUZHOU, Oct. 21-- Recently, Coast guard forces in east China’s Fujian Province have busted a major case involving refined oil smuggling, totaled 10,000 tons and worth about 50 million yuan, and destroyed two oil smuggling rings active in the coastal areas in the provinces of Fujian and Zhejiang, capturing 46 suspects as of now.
In May this year, China Coast Guard(CCG) Fujian bureau investigated and found that the smuggling rings had used illegal methods to give a false impression appearing to be licit, commanding and dispatching large oil tankers to secretly engage in smuggling refined oil along the coast of Fujian and Zhejiang Provinces. The criminal activities are novel in operation characterized by clear-cut division of labor and strong anti-investigation ability, so it is difficult to be cracked. After thorough investigations, the bureau had carried out twice large-scale operations in multiple locations. Currently, the case is under further investigation.
It has been a case involving the highest quantity of smuggled refined oil seized by the coast guard forces in east China’s Fujian Province in recent years. Handling of such large case has effectively deterred the smuggling activities in the southeast coastal area and fully demonstrated the determination of the China Coast Guard to crack down on illegal and unlawful activities at sea.
