BEIRUT, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- A Senior British official confirmed on Wednesday that his country will maintain its military support for Lebanon, Lebanon Presidency's website reported.

"We will keep on offering military aid to the Lebanese army which will enable it to properly undertake its national duties and responsibilities," Britain's senior defense adviser for the Middle East Lieutenant General John Lorimer said during his meeting with Lebanese President Michel Aoun at the Baabda Palace in Beirut.

Lorimer also assured that the UK is keen to see a quick formation of a new Lebanese government to boost the bilateral ties on all levels.

Meanwhile, Aoun said that the parliamentary consultations on Monday will constitute the beginning of a government formation in Lebanon which will enable the country to undertake the necessary reform measures including the fight against corruption.

Lorimer arrived in Lebanon on Tuesday to meet with Lebanese officials and discuss the latest development in the country.
