DARFUR, SUDAN, Jan. 31 (ChinaMil) -- China’s 2nd peacekeeping helicopter detachment to Darfur, Sudan passed the first equipment inspection in 2019 on January 28 conducted by the African Union/United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID).
On the morning of that day, seven UNAMID inspectors carefully checked more than 6,000 pieces (units or sets) of equipment and supplies in seven categories including weapons and ammunition, firefighting facilities, vehicles and machinery, barracks and barracks facilities, sanitation and medical equipment, catering equipment, and welfare facilities in the detachment.
Those inspectors were impressed by the good appearances and performances of relevant equipment, the skilled operators and the neat placement of supplies. Upon appraisal and assessment, they confirmed that all equipment and supplies of the detachment meet relevant UN standards and the need for peacekeeping missions.
“China’s peacekeeping helicopter detachment sets a good example for other detachments,” noted the head of the UNAMID inspection team, “Every corner of the barracks is very clean, all facilities meet relevant standards, and all major equipment and facilities are in good conditions. This means that the Chinese detachment is fully capable to complete its missions.”
