Peacekeepers of the 5th Chinese peacekeeping infantry battalion to South Sudan (Juba) attended an oath-taking rally in China on November 7, 2018.
BEIJING, Dec. 21 (ChinaMil) -- The Sector Juba commander of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) visited the 5th Chinese peacekeeping infantry battalion to South Sudan (Juba) for the first time on December 19.
On arrival, the commander reviewed the guard of honor of the Chinese infantry battalion, followed by a tour of the battalion camp which provided him insights to the combat-readiness training of the troops, as well as leisure-time activities and medical conditions of the officers and soldiers. He also inspected the emergency operational capability of the quick-reaction force and observed the guard posts and the patrols in the weapon exclusion zone.
The Sector Juba commander said that he was impressed with the combat-readiness of the Chinese peacekeeping infantry battalion, the multifaceted and sophisticated quality of Chinese officers and soldiers, the stringent army administration and the neat and orderly camp facilities. The “China Quality” that the Chinese infantry battalion showed in its duty performance has set an example for all forces of the troop-contributing countries (TCCs) in Sector Juba to learn from, he added.
Guo Meng, the Chinese battalion commander said that all the officers and soldiers of the battalion will, under the direction of the UNMISS Sector Juba, and in accordance with the UN Security Council’s authorization and international law, carry out various tasks focusing on the protection of civilians in an orderly manner, and work closely with the forces of other troop-contributing countries to continue making contributions to the peace in South Sudan.
