BEIJING, Nov. 26 (ChinaMil) -- Chinese State Councilor and Minister of National Defense Wei Fenghe met here with a visiting delegation of the Permanent Representatives of the UN Security Council member states on Monday morning.

Wei said that the present world needs multilateralism and a strong United Nations (UN) more than ever before, China firmly upholds the international system with the UN as its core and firmly safeguards the key role of the UN in international affairs.

China has always pursued a defensive national defense policy and firmly safeguarded international and regional peace and stability, Wei said.

China will uphold the security concept that is common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable as always and work with all countries to build a security structure featuring fairness, justice, joint efforts and shared benefits, Wei told his guest from the UN.

He expressed that the Chinese military has taken an active part in UN peacekeeping operations and is willing to strengthen communication and cooperation with all nations in the deployment of peacekeeping forces, security defense, logistics support, and equipment supply, so as to promote the continuous advancement of UN peacekeeping operations.

The Permanent Representative of France to the UN Francois Delattre and Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the UN Taye Atske Selassie Amde spoke on behalf of the delegation that China has always pursued multilateralism and advocates the vision of a community of shared future for mankind, which is deeply appreciated, and they look forward to China playing a greater role in international affairs.

Shao Yuanming, deputy chief of the Joint Staff Department of China's Central Military Commission (CMC) was also present at the meeting.
