NANJING, Oct. 30 (ChinaMil) -- The Sixth International Army Cadets Week opened on October 29, 2018, in Nanjing, capital city of Jiangsu Province, China. A total of 104 cadets from foreign military academies of 11 countries including Brazil, Canada, Egypt, France, India, Japan, the Netherlands, Pakistan, South Africa, Thailand and Turkey, and 11 Chinese military academies, would be mixed into groups and carry out one-week studying and training activities, in addition to taking part in exchanges and visits.

The Sixth International Army Cadets Week is organized by the Army Engineering University of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) under the theme of “enhancing mutual understanding, learning from each other, developing cooperation and creating a better future”, which aims to build an international exchange platform and promote mutual learning among cadets from various countries.

During the week, the Army Engineering University of the Chinese PLA will set up a joint international cadets company. The Chinese and foreign cadets will rotate as the backbone of the company and take turns to organize the implementation of various activities.

During the week, Chinese and foreign cadets will attend class together, organize training of light weapons shooting, indoor obstacle and psychological behaviors and participate in activities such as field training, simulating and deducing the action of UN peacekeeping forces and experiencing traditional Chinese culture.

An international exchange forum under the theme of “How to train army officers in the new era” will be held during the event. Chinese and foreign cadets will discuss topics focusing on “challenges to officers’ abilities induced by the changes in the army’s combat environment in the information age”, “intelligent development of the army and officers’ command and decision-making abilities” and ”how can army officers accomplish a joint mission excellently”.

According to Wang Jinlong, commandant of the Army Engineering University of the Chinese PLA, the International Cadets Week has been held five times since 2005. The event offers international cadets an international platform on which they can exchange views and learn from each other as well as improve their military capabilities. Meanwhile, the event has also shown to the world the advanced standards of China’s military academies and promoted the excellent Chinese culture.
