The People's Liberation Army (PLA) Hong Kong Garrison opened its Sina Weibo account on Tuesday, which gives netizens a glimpse into this "good-looking" garrison.
Called "Zhu Xianggang Budui (People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison Micro-blog account)," the account has registered 31,213 followers as of press time.
"This is a Sina Weibo account that can give people a chance to know more about the PLA Hong Kong Garrison. You can see the 'hormonal' exercises conducted by the military personnel…and many good-looking sisters and brothers. In short, you can see a different Hong Kong and different PLA Garrison here," the account said.
Netizens welcomed the move, saying the garrison deserves support. Some even said they look forward to "PLA Garrisons in the island of Taiwan."
Sina Weibo is China's Twitter-like platform. Many government agencies, such as the Communist Youth League of China (CYLC) Central Committee, opened accounts on the platform to spread their voice.
The PLA Hong Kong Garrison is responsible for the defense of the Special Autonomous Region since its return to the motherland in 1997.
In the past, in addition to routine training and military missions, the garrison has also participated in Hong Kong's public events.
The troops have planted more than 92,000 trees, donated 3,380 liters of blood and offered help to 4,300 seniors and children in care homes.
By the end of 2017, the garrison had held 28 open houses which attracted 620,000 local people.
