BEIJING, Aug. 2 (ChinaMil) -- In mid-July, the National Defense University (NDU) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) sent above 60 cadets majoring in joint combat command to Japan, the Philippines, Uzbekistan and Turkey respectively for study.

At the same time, the PLA National Defense University held a seminar on national defense security policy and other topics with a visiting delegation of the Korea National Defense University.

It is learned that in the first half of this year, the PLA NDU has sent six batches of cadets to study abroad and received 42 foreign military delegations for visits and academic exchanges.

In recent years, the PLA NDU has actively strengthened strategic cooperation with renowned military academies around the world, and established contacts with armed forces and military academies in more than 100 countries.

They have also carried out in-depth practical cooperation in specialized personnel training and military professional education, which has laid foundation to broaden cadets’ international strategic vision and cultivate talents in joint combat command.

Up to now, the PLA NDU has established official exchange and cooperation ties with higher military academies in 14 countries, including the US, Japan, Australia and Mozambique. It will sign Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with academies in Egypt, Laos, Peru and other countries this year.

“The National Defense University of the Chinese PLA is becoming a well-known and influential platform for international academic exchanges, opening a window for the world to understand the Chinese military,” said the president of the National Defense Studies Institute (NDSI) of Thailand.
