Chinese, Laotian militaries to hold "Peace Train -2018" joint medical exercise

LAOS, July 23 (ChinaMil) -- Three Chinese IL-76 transport aircraft loaded with supplies and carrying China’s military medical team arrived at the Wattay International Airport in Vientiane, capital of Laos, on Sunday.

From July 24 to August 7, the Chinese military medical team will participate in a China-Laos joint exercise under the theme of “humanitarian medical rescue in flood disasters” and provide free clinical treatment and other medical services for local servicemen and civilians in Laos.

From July 24 to 31, Chinese and Laotian militaries will hold the humanitarian and medical joint rescue exercise (codenamed “Peace Train -2018”) at the Logistics College of Laos. China and Laos will dispatch 100 and 90 personnel respectively to participate.

As the first such joint exercise between the two militaries’ medical service troops, it is aimed at improving the two sides’ capability in conducting coordinated actions.

From August 2 to 6, the Chinese medical team will provide medical services in Vientiane City and Xiangkhouang Province of Laos with the help of the No.103 and No.101 hospitals of the Laotian military, helping Laotian military medical peers improve their clinical skills.

The Chinese military will send experts from 26 disciplines in general surgery, orthopedics, and neurology to provide voluntary clinics, physical examinations, itinerant visits, and surgery services for the Laotian government officials, troops, military families, and local people.

During the event, the Chinese medical team will also donate ambulances, epidemic control vehicles and other equipment as well as medicine worth RMB 3.5 million to the Laotian military and civilians.
