MINUSMA Force Commander visits Chinese peacekeeping camp in Gao

GAO, MALI, July 12 (ChinaMil) -- Major General Jean-Paul Deconinck, Force Commander of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), inspected the camp of Chinese peacekeeping force to Mali in Gao on July 10. This was the first inspection by a senior MINUSMA officer after the 6th Chinese peacekeeping force to Mali arrived at the mission area.

During the inspection, Major General Deconinck visited the medical, engineer and guard detachments respectively, and listened to a mission report by the Chinese peacekeeping force.

He fully endorsed the work accomplished by the Chinese peacekeeping force since its deployment to the mission area. “The Chinese peacekeeping force is an outstanding representative of the MINUSMA family, and has accomplished various tasks with high standards in a short period. I highly appreciate the professionalism of the Chinese service members, and I am proud of the high working standards of the Chinese peacekeeping force,” he said.

Zhong Jingbo, commander of the 6th Chinese peacekeeping force to Mali, said that they will carry out the various tasks assigned by the MINUSMA strictly according to the relevant requirements, and try to make more contributions to maintaining the peace and stability at the mission area in Gao.
