PLA HK Garrison Open Day attracts local residents' active participation

HONG KONG, June 25 (ChinaMil) -- The Hong Kong Garrison of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) will open its Shek Kong, San Wai, and Ngong Shuen Chau barracks to the Hong Kong public from June 30 to July 2, 2018. The Garrison started to distribute a total of 30,000 entrance tickets at its six barracks on Sunday morning.

The barrack's open day is lionized by Hong Kong residents. Almost 500 people queued for tickets at 9 a.m. Sunday morning at the east gate of the Garrison's Central barrack, and all tickets were handed out in two hours.

A 16-year-old student Wang said what he most expects to see at the open day is the combat tactics performance by the PLA special operations soldiers. He plans to visit the San Wai barrack with his friends this time.

The four-member family of Mr. Huang, a Hong Kong resident, arrived at the Central barrack at 5 a.m. on Sunday morning. Mr. Huang said he is longing for watching the performances of military training by the troops of the Army and the Air Force units of the Garrison.

Some other residents expressed that they hope the Open Day activities could offer a great chance for them to get an inside glimpse of the PLA soldiers' military life.

According to the PLA Hong Kong Garrison, the three barracks will be open to ordinary citizens from June 30 to July 1, on July 2 the barracks will receive exclusively Hong Kong students.

A series of activities, including national flag-raising ceremony, military band performance, Chinese boxing performance and weapons and equipment display, will be staged during the open day.
