PHNOM PENH, June 19 (ChinaMil) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen met with visiting Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister General Wei Fenghe in Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia on the afternoon of June 18.

Wei conveyed Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang’s greetings to Hun Sen. The Cambodian Prime Minister expressed his gratitude and asked Gen. Wei to convey his greetings and best wishes to President Xi and Premier Li in return.

Viewing China as a good and true friend, Hun Sen said the friendship between Cambodia and China has withstood the test of time and grown even stronger. He thanks the Chinese side for its powerful support to the social-economic development and military and defense construction of Cambodia. Cambodia highly appreciates tremendous achievements China has made under President Xi Jinping’s leadership, and firmly supports the important cooperative proposals on building a community with shared future for mankind and the Belt and Road Initiative put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping, Hun Sen said.

By taking the opportunity of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries, Cambodia is willing to work with China to promote the Cambodia-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to a higher level, Hun Sen said.

Wei said that China and Cambodia are traditional friendly neighbors and "iron friends". The comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries has been further developed under the guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Wei stressed that China firmly supports Cambodia in choosing its own development path according to its national conditions, the Chinese military is ready to work with Cambodian side to implement the consensus reached by leaders of the two countries and deepen pragmatic cooperation, making positive contributions to the development of bilateral relations.

General Wei Fenghe also held talks with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Tea Banh on the morning of June 17.
