28th Chinese naval escort taskforce ends friendly visit to Cameroon

DOUALA, CAMEROON, June 14 (ChinaMil) -- The 28th escort taskforce of the Chinese PLA Navy left the Douala Port on June 14 after a three-day friendly visit to Cameroon.

During the visit, the commanding officer of the taskforce called on the military and government officials of Cameroon. The sailors of the two navies conducted professional exchanges on such topics as escort operations, equipment maintenance and so forth at the Douala Naval Base.

The PLA Navy's special operations detachment also showcased some special operations equipment to Cameroon peers and performed and grappling wrestling techniques as well as traditional Chinese martial arts.

Meanwhile, the Chinese naval escort taskforce held deck reception, cross deck visits, sports competitions and other activities.

The extensive, in-depth, candid and practical multi-level exchanges deepened understanding and enhanced friendship between the two navies and also expanded the PLA Navy's influence and demonstrated its image.

It is learnt that the 28th Chinese naval escort taskforce will carry out a joint maritime drill with the Cameroon Navy after the visit and then head to Gabon for a friendly visit.
