TEMA, Ghana, June 5 (ChinaMil) -- The 28th Chinese naval escort taskforce consisting of the guided-missile frigates Yancheng and Weifang and the comprehensive supply ship Taihu arrived at the Port of Tema of Ghana on June 4 for a four-day friendly visit. This is the first time for the Chinese naval ships to visit Ghana.
由导弹护卫舰盐城舰、潍坊舰和综合补给舰太湖舰组成的中国海军第二十八批护航编队4日抵达加纳特马港，开始对加纳进行为期4天的友好访问，这是中国海军舰艇编队首次访问加纳。
The three Chinese naval ships were warmly received at the dock by a grand welcoming ceremony held by the Ghanaian side at around 9 a.m. local time. Over 300 people including the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana Wang Shiting, the Chief of Defense Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces Lt. Gen. Obed Akwa, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana Charles Owiredu, staff members of the Chinese Embassy and local overseas Chinese welcomed the taskforce at the port.
当地时间上午9时许，编队舰艇依次靠泊特马港，加方为编队到访举行了隆重的欢迎仪式。中国驻加纳大使王世廷、加参谋总长奥贝德•阿夸、外交部副部长查尔斯•奥维雷多等军政官员及中国驻加使馆、在加华侨华人代表等300余人在码头迎接并登舰参观。
During the visit, the commanding officers of the taskforce will call on high-level military and government officials of Ghana, visit the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre, the Command Academy of Ghana Armed Forces and a local primary school in Tema. Naval officers and soldiers of the two sides will visit each other's warships, hold exchange activities such as tug-of-war games and basketball matches.
访问期间，编队指挥员将拜会加军政高层官员，参观加纳科菲•安南国际维和培训中心、武装指挥学院，并赴特马小学参加慈善捐款。中加两国海军官兵还将互相参观舰艇，开展拔河、篮球友谊赛等交流活动。
Tema is a coastal city in southern Ghana and the northern side of the Gulf of Guinea. It is about 26 kilometers from Accra, the capital of Ghana. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Ghana in 1960, the bilateral relations have been developing smoothly, as evidenced by close high-level contacts and fruitful exchanges and cooperation in multiple areas.
