ABOARD DESTROYER CHANGSHA, May 11 (ChinaMil) -- Multilateral naval exercise Komodo 2018 concluded on Wednesday in the sailing pass drill. Two Chinese naval ships participating in the exercise embarked on their homebound journey on Wednesday afternoon.

The exercise, hosted by Indonesian Navy, was held in waters off Lombok of Indonesia. A total of 50 ships from 34 countries participated in joint drills in three phases of harbor training, maritime drills, shore engineering and medical civil rescue program. China's guided-missile destroyer Changsha and guided-missile frigate Liuzhou participated in the entire exercise.

On the Lombok island, Chinese naval officers and soldiers participated in the opening ceremony of the exercise, fleet review, engineering and medical civil rescue drills, and multilateral exchange activities such as city parade, Komodo Mataram Fun Run, culinary games, coral reef planting, and ball games.

At the sea phase of the exercise, the participating naval vessel conducted joint drills of aerial photography, replenishment between sailing vessels, ship-borne helicopter landing on each other's warship, checking and warning-off and maritime interception, joint search & rescue, and diving operation.

"We made full preparations for the Komodo-2018 exercise," said Lai Minghe, the political commissar of the Chinese naval fleet. "The participating navies have strengthen mutual understanding and friendship through joint drills and multilateral cultural and sports exchange activities in the past six days," Lai added.
