China, DPRK start new round of CPV fallen soldiers' cemetery renovation

PYONGYANG, April 8 (ChinaMil) -- China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) jointly held last Friday a ceremony at a Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) martyrs' cemetery in the Kangdong County of Pyongyang City to initiate a new round of maintenance of the cemeteries of the CPV fallen soldiers killed in the Korean War.

The cemeteries to be maintained are located in the Kangdong County and the Sunan District of Pyongyang.

The groundbreaking ceremony hosted by the DPRK began at 10:00 a.m. local time. Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK Li Jinjun delivered a speech at the ceremony.

The project of renovating CPV martyrs' cemeteries in the DPRK is of great significance for honoring the memory of CPV martyrs and consolidating and developing the traditional friendship between China and the DPRK, Li said in his speech. The CPV martyrs' cemeteries located in Hoechang County, Kaesong and Anju have got maintained and shown a new look in recent years and the commencement ceremony marked the CPV martyrs' cemetery protection efforts entering a new phase.

A leading official of Ministry of City Management of the DPRK said that his ministry will work with related departments of China to complete the maintenance project on time with a high standard, the great contributions made by the CPV martyrs will be remembered forever.

This round of maintenance of CPV martyrs' cemeteries is expected to be completed within three months.
