Russian and Chinese defence ministries emphasize importance of Russian-Chinese relations for international security

General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, the head of the Russian Defence Ministry, held negotiations with General Wei Fenghe, the Minister of National Defence.

“The efforts of the leadership of the both countries, Russian- Chinese relations today has reached principally new unprecedented level, and have become a critical factor in keeping peace and international security”, Sergei Shoigu pointed out.

He recalled that meetings of Russian President Vladimir Putin and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping in May and June 2017, and in November - a bilateral meeting at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.

Sergei Shoigu congratulated Wei Fenghe on his appointment as the Minister of National Defence of the People’s Republic of China. He also thanked his counterpart for the Chinese delegation attending the VII Moscow Conference on International Security that takes place on April 4-5.

Wei Fenghe stressed that the Chinese delegation has arrived at the VII Moscow Conference on International Security to once again affirm close relationships between the two countries, and to express its position shared with Russia on international issues.

According to General Wei Fenghe, the Chinese delegation has arrived to support Russia in organising the Moscow Conference on International Security.

Wei Fenghe thanked Sergei Shoigu for warm welcome and hospitality in Moscow.
