HARBIN, March 19 (ChinaMil) -- Seventeen female pilot cadets studying in the PLA Air Force Harbin Flight Academy started to receive night flight training on advanced trainer aircraft last Thursday.

The night flight training is conducted at a military airport in western Liaoning Province.

Night flight training is also known as instrument night flying. In the training, pilots mainly rely on the cockpit instruments and ground lighting to operate the aircraft, therefore it is a great challenge to pilots' physical and mental conditions as well as their piloting skills.

According to a flight instructor of these female pilot cadets, they have been familiar with the lighting landmarks at the airport, the application procedures of lighting equipment in the trainer aircrafts, having a basic command of the skills of piloting the advanced trainer aircraft in a night flight training.

The seventeen girls enrolled in 2013 are the 10th group of female pilot cadets of the PLA Air Force. They are scheduled to graduate from the flight academy in this June and then begin refitting training for flying fighter jets in the future.
