Chinese defense minister meets with Bosnia and Herzegovina counterpart

BEIJING, May 15 (ChinaMil) -- Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister Gen. Chang Wanquan held talks with the visiting Bosnia and Herzegovina Defense Minister Marina Pendes in Beijing on the afternoon of May 16, 2017.

Gen. Chang Wanquan said that Bosnia and Herzegovina is a trusted friend of China in Central and Eastern Europe. In recent years, mutual political trust between the two countries has been deepened, and exchanges and cooperation have been steadily advanced in various fields.

Chang said that the Chinese side thanks Bosnia and Herzegovina for pursuing the One-China policy and its support for the Belt and Road Initiative.

Chang said that the relationship between the two militaries is an important part of the relations between the two countries, and China is willing to work with Bosnia and Herzegovina to conscientiously implement the consensus of the two state heads, deepen the cooperation between the two armed forces in areas including personnel training, international peacekeeping and military science, and promote sustained and healthy development of relations between the two countries and two militaries.

Marina Pendes said that the two countries and two militaries have profound friendship. Bosnia and Herzegovina firmly adheres to the One-China policy and firmly believes that the Belt and Road Initiative will benefit countries and people along the way and of the world as a whole.

Marina Pendes said that Bosnia and Herzegovina will actively participate in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Bosnia and Herzegovina thanks China for its long-standing support and assistance, and hopes that both sides will further deepen defense exchanges and cooperation and push forward bilateral relations between the two countries and two armed forces, Marina Pendes said.

Before their meeting, Chang held a welcome ceremony for Marina Pendes and accompanied her to inspect the honor guard of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).
