The rest SARS
patients ready to leave Xiaotangshan
PLA Daily 2003-06-19
Yesterday afternoon, our reporter got the news
at the press conference held in the Xiaotangshan Hospital by Beijing
Municipal Government, that the rest patients with severe acute
respiratory syndrome (SARS) in this hospital would leave the hospital
soon. The rest 31 patients, after consulted by experts, proved
to have met the standards for leaving hospital regulated by national
health watchdog, the Ministry of Health.
Since May 1, 2003, the Xiaotangshan Hospital
has received 680 SARS patients from more than 60 hospitals all
over Beijing. In another word, the hospital has ten percent of
the number of SARS patients all over the world, and one seventh
of the number throughout China. After tender treatment and care
of doctors and nurses in the hospital, the overwhelming majority
of its patients have recovered and left hospital safely. It is
reported there are eight cases of death, with a death rate of
1.2 percent. There is none infected by SARS among its 1383 doctors
and nurses. Various work of the hospital has reached the expected
target. Zhang Yanling, president of the Xiaotangshan Hospital,
said the fight against SARS was not yet over, and the hospital
would still remain until the entire victory was achieved.
