PLA Daily 2003-05-29
The Third Military Medical University of the
PLA, based in southwestern China's Chongqing City, has developed
a set of protective equipment for SARS patients and anti-SARS
medical personnel.
Among the newly developed equipment is a specially
designed protective mask for SARS patients, it is called "filtration
protective mask". It is used to filter the breathing air of SARS
patients and kill the virus before they are released into the
atmosphere.
An expert panel had approved the development
of the mask on May 28 in Chongqing, saying the new protective
mask, made of the most advanced macromolecular filtration materials,
with filtration rate as high as 99.9%, can effectively cut off
the spread of the SARS virus.
In addition, the university has developed a new
type of protective suits and other equipment for anti-SARS battle.
