Put off the
work until the end of SARS?
PLA Daily 2003-05-23
Recently we often hear about such talking, "This
could be shelved until SARS goes away" or "That could be put off
util SARS clears up". Suck view is yet to be discussed.
When the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)
broke out, prevention measures such as cutting down the number
of meetings, controlling the flow of population and proper arrangement
for holidays were quite necessary, and delaying less-urgent work
also proved helpful in curbing the spread of SARS.
But such delays cannot be applied to any work.
For example, the work of boosting military changes
with Chinese characteristics, and the normal military trainings
and education of the troops cannot be slackened at any time. If
these work were put off until SARS dies out, then there would
be no powerful support to the ongoing struggle against SARS, and
the process of army building will be adversely affected as well.
As the fight against SARS continues to press
on, it is vital to apply dialectics in the army's daily tasks,
and the passive waiting of the end of SARS is not a workable solution.
