Newly-developed
anti-SARS equipment(2):Biological protective suit
PLA Daily 2003-05-22

The biological protective suit, developed by the Institute of
Microbiology & Epidemiology of the Military Academy of Medical
Science, is a three-layer compound structure with oil- and waterproof
terylene covering the outside, an insulating PU velamen in the
middle, and a moisture absorbent treatment weft-knit fabric inside.
The suit can protect the human body from being attacked by biological
particles and microbes in the air, including the highly infectious
severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and other germs in water
by 100 percent. The material of the protective suit is innocuous
and can even function in high temperature. Cuffs, necklines and
sewing lines are specially treated to be close-grained to meet
the operational requirement in highly infectious environments.
