New policy
inspires army medical staff fighting SARS
PLA Daily 2003-05-22
The General Political Department of the PLA has enforced a new
policy recently that has received positive response from army
medical staff at the Xiaotangshan Hospital, reported the PLA Daily
today.
The policy made a series of preferential arrangements
for army medical staff fighting against SARS in relation to their
promotion and examination.
For example, servicemen who meet the criterion
for promotion this year will be given priority to their promotion
or even promoted in advance. Those who miss the entrance examination
for the military universities or colleges because they are busy
fighting SARS will be offered a makeup test. The policy also includes
some other preferential treatments.
According to the new policy, relatives of the
army medical staff will also benefit from it. For instance, the
offspring of the army medical staff will get assistance from the
army in admitting into kindergartens, junior or high schools if
necessary. In addition, they will get an extra 30 points if they
seat for entrance examination for military universities or colleges
this summer.
Children of the army medical workers who sacrifice
their lives in fighting against SARS, would be given more special
care.
