Surfing the Internet will no longer be difficult for Chinese peacekeepers
in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Chinese peacekeeping troops will carry 10 computers with
them. And the UN will offer 6 net interfaces at the places where
the troops will station. As a result, the peacekeepers can keep
in touch with their families by e-mail and keep up with home and
international news in the far-flung Africa continent.
Officers said as one of the key equipment carried by the engineering
troops, advanced communication system could improve both the command
of the troops and the harmony of the operation.
For example, the high-powered transmitter-receiver could enable
the troops to get contact with people at any place in China. Transmitter-receiver
mounted on advanced command car can send messages to places over
1,000 km away, which solves the long-existed communication difficulty
in troops on the march. Communication equipment is also given out
in every troop so as to ensure internal communication.
Besides the Internet, TV programs were also available for peacekeepers.
They could watch CCTV 4 and CCTV 9. With these modern electronic
gadgets, the Chinese peacekeepers are sure to feel at home in Africa.
