[ english.chinamil.com.cn 2008-06-17 ]

At 6:20 p.m. of June 16, a great number of servicemen swarmed into a parking apron for special planes of the Shuangliu Inernational Airport in Chengdu to send off 170 officers and men of the fourth batch of the first echelon of Chinese peacekeeping force to Lebanon. Keeping the trusts of the Party and people in mind, these peacekeepers embarked on the long journey with pride and were ready to perform the eight-month peacekeeping mission.

The first echelon of the fourth batch of Chinese peacekeeping force to Lebanon is composed of an engineer detachment and a medical detachment, of which, the former consists of 140 servicemen, while the latter 30. During the several months spanning from receiving the task to forging the force, they smoothly collected materials, held closed intensive trainings for professional knowledge, foreign etiquette and English, studied the laws, regulations and customs in the Middle East, and lifted their capabilities to defuse mines, rescue the injured and deal with emergencies.
