UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Security Council on
Monday extended by 12 months the authorization of the International Security
Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan.
In its unanimously adopted Resolution 1833, the Security Council decided to
extend the authorization of the ISAF for one year beyond Oct. 13, 2008,"
determining that the situation in Afghanistan still constitutes a threat to
international peace and security."
