Xu Caihou, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and
vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, went to the Armored Force
Engineering Academy on September 10 to observe the Teachers' Day together with
the faculty, when he noted that all military schools should always hold fast to
the right direction of running schools, attach importance to and enhance the
development of the ranks of teachers as in the past, and further create an
excellent atmosphere of respecting teachers and taking education seriously.
Chang Wanquan, member of the Central Military Commission and director of
the General Armaments Department of the PLA, accompanied Xu Caihou during the
visit.
Xu Caihou extended festival greetings to the faculty of the academy,
expressed sincere gratitude for their industrious work and made quite
affirmative comments on their achievements.
Xu Caihou emphasized that well-trained people are the foundation for
invigorating and building up a powerful army. Being the important breeding
grounds for well-trained and competent personnel, military schools should
further carry out the reforms of teaching and scientific research, and align the
teaching and scientific research more with the actual demands of real war and
the troops so as to provide more powerful support in terms of competent
personnel and technology to the preparation for military struggles and the army
building.
Xu Caihou pointed out that all teachers should have lofty moral sentiment
and spiritual pursuit, acquire the approach of meticulous and truth-seeking
scholarship, cultivate excellent teacher ethics and integrity, and act in real
earnest as paragons of virtue and learning.
