The Olympic security medical, chemical and biological rescue group from the
Jinan Military Area Command includes a brave and skilful "women detachment". Its
14 members always take the lead and vie with each other for taking the brunt
each time when missions are being assigned. They refused to be eclipsed by the
male members in regular trainings and tests being conducted in close-to-real-war
environments.
As the missions for the medical, chemical, biological and nuclear rescue
group involve subjects that they have never been trained before like they have
to take on air-tight chemical protection uniforms and protection gloves of three
layers thick before performing venipuncture to the injured, they have to be
trained as such. Such uniforms make the originally simple operation extremely
hard.
An Fengmei is the only chief nurse in the medical detachment. In order to
overcome the difficulty, she led the members to practice the operation for tens
of hundreds of times. With the aim to learn the skill of performing venipuncture
on a rolling vehicle, they volunteered to practice the skill on a swing log in
substitution for the rolling vehicle. After only one month of hard practice,
they have mastered the skill, and better still they can even perform
venipuncture under dim light on a rolling vehicle. As a result, each member can
perform a venipuncture without a single failure even when they are in full
gears.
