HANOI, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Laos is pleased with the ceasefire between Russia and Georgia, and hopes the issue will be resolved peacefully, Lao newspaper Vientiane Times reported Monday.

　　"At present, Laos is pleased to know the shooting has been stopped, and hopes those involved will continue to negotiate to resolve the issue amicably in accordance with treaties between Russia, South Ossetia and Georgia," the newspaper quoted a statement by the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs as reporting.

　　"Laos has followed the situation with extreme concern," said the statement.
