In early August, some international hepatobiliary experts sent telegrams
and letters to the No. 2 Military Medical University (MMU) to congratulate the
successful closing of the 3rd Academic Conference of the China Branch of the
International Hepato-Biliary-Pancreato Association, sponsored by the No. 2
Military Medical University. This is an epitome of the university making the
most of the first-class international experts and scientific research
institutions to promote leapfrog development of its scientific research work.
The No. 2 Military Medical University regards the expansion of
international exchange and the deepening of scientific cooperation as an
important approach for promoting leapfrog development of its scientific research
work. As a result, the university has been active in hosting and sponsoring
large-scale international and national academic conferences. Besides, it has
established the "master's forum" to invite Nobel laureates and world celebrated
experts to the university to carry out academic exchanges.
In summer last year, the university sponsored the International Immunology
Conference and the First World Chinese Immunology Conference at which 25
international authoritative immunological scholars were invited to give academic
lectures. The conference has provided a platform for domestic immunological
scholars to learn some firsthand knowledge of the latest successes in the
international frontier scientific research and seek high-level cooperation.
In order to introduce foreign intelligence and information resources, the
university has established academic exchange and scientific cooperative
mechanism with 34 countries and regions including the U.S., UK and Germany and
some world famous universities and scientific research institutes like
University of Massachusetts and Humboldt University, so as to bring its
scientific research level into line with the international frontier scientific
research.
The Oriental Hepatobility Surgery Hospital affiliated to the University has
established the Sino-Germany Cooperative Biological Signal Transmission Research
Center in partnership with Max Planck Institute. In the past few years, its
research achievements won the first prizes of Military Scientific and
Technological Progress Award and the second prizes of the National Natural
Science Award. In recent years, the university has made use of international
resources to carry out scientific research, through which it has won one
National Highest Scientific and Technological Award, three second prizes of the
National Natural Science Award, two second prizes of the National Technological
Invention Award and four second prizes of the National Scientific and
Technological Progress Award.
