New protective packing technique developed for radar apparatus

english.chinamil.com.cn 2008-08-18

The reporters saw at an ordnance equipment depot of the Shenyang Military Area Command that the officers and men of the depot were giving a demonstration of packing a batch of precision radar apparatus by using the "anti-strong-electromagnetic radiation protective packaging techniques" developed by themselves. According to sources, this new innovative achievement has passed the technical appraisal of the third prize of the Military Scientific and Technological Progress Award.

This depot shoulders the mission of storing, packing and distributing radar apparatus. In light of the fact that radar apparatuses are great in variety, and their components such as semiconductor devices, integrated circuits and circuit boards and other components are liable to electromagnetic disturbance and damages, the technicians of this depot made innovations in the package of spare parts, circuits, assembly parts, and cables of radar apparatus, and developed a new protective "three-layer shielding" packing method, namely, an internal packing with composite insulating foil, an external packing with rigid material, plus a special container. This innovative result was widely praised by visitors at a PLA equipment innovations demonstration for emulation and exchange of experience.
