GAZA, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Leaders and spokesmen of different Palestinian
political groups rejected an Israeli permanent security plan published on Sunday
to be implemented after a final Israeli-Palestinian peace deal is reached.
The Israeli Ma'ariv Daily published on Sunday what it called the security
arrangements between Israel and the Palestinians, which would be implemented
after reaching a peace deal on all the permanent status issues.
The plan, which was presented by Israel to the United States, suggests that
the future Palestinian state will be disarmed and it will have no air or ground
forces or any heavy weapons, the daily reported.
According to the published plan, Israel would put alarm stations on the
West Bank's hills, deploy its forces on the borders with Jordan and the border
crossings, and take full control of the Palestinian air.
The Israeli plan has angered the leaders of different factions and
political groups in the Gaza Strip, where all of them rejected it and said it
basically delete the concept of the independent Palestinian state.
"If the plan is accepted by the Palestinians, it will kill the Palestinian
dream to establish an independent state," said Hamas leader Ismail Radwan in a
statement, adding that "Hamas warns of accepting such a disastrous plan."
He added that "the Palestinian people and Hamas movement reject this plan
which completely serves the interests of the Zionist enemy and will be the
biggest Palestinian concessions over their legitimate rights."
The left-wing Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) has also
rejected the published Israeli security plan. Rabah Muhana, a senior PFLP leader
said "this plan is impossible and we can't accept it at all."
"The plan is completely rejected and it won't prepare the ground for an
everlasting peace between Israel and the Palestinians, on the contrary, it would
keep a permanent atmosphere of more tension and escalation."
Nafez Azzam, a senior Islamic Jihad (Holy War) leader said "we reject all
these weak solutions produced by Israel and America. These plans are just
illusive and they will never be implemented."
