of breaking Mark Spitz's record of seven golds in an Olympics, set in 1972,
after winning the men's 200-meter individual medley on Friday, but doping
scandals dominated the headlines.

Kim Jong-su of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has been stripped
of the silver and bronze medals he won in shooting events after testing positive
for beta-blocker drugs, which help decrease the heart rate and stay cool, the
International Olympic Committee said.
Vietnamese female gymnast Do Thi Ngan Thuong also failed a drug test and
has been expelled from the Games along with Kim, IOC spokeswoman Giselle Davies
told a press conference.
Three doping cheats were caught so far at the Aug. 8-24 Olympics. Spanish
cyclist Maria Isabel Moreno was kicked out of the games on Monday after testing
positive for EPO.
Kim won silver in the men's 50m pistol and a bronze in the men's 10m air
pistol. Tan Zongliang of China now takes silver in the 50m, with Vladimir Isakov
of Russia taking the bronze, and Jason Turner of the United States will be
awarded Kim's bronze in the 10m air pistol, IOC said.
