The General Political Department (GPD) of the PLA sent telegrams respectively to the Chinese Sports Team and the Political Department of the Jinan Military Area Command yesterday to warmly congratulate Yang Xiuli, a PLA athlete, on her taking the championship in the women's Judo event of 78kg category in the 29th Olympic Games.

　　The telegrams read, thanks to the strong leadership of the Chinese Sports Team and the painstaking training of the Weightlifting, Wrestling and Judo Sports Administration Center of the General Administration of Sports of China, Yang Xiuli was able to outdo a great number of redoubtable athletes in such a fierce competition and secure the gold medal for the country and the PLA. It is hoped that all the PLA athletes could take Yang Xiuli as an example, continue to make outstanding achievements in the competition arenas of the Olympic Games, win honors for the country, do credit to the Olympics and add luster to the military banner!
