On August 9, Guo Boxiong and Xu Caihou, vice chairmen of the Central Military Commission, called the leaders of the General Political Department of the PLA respectively asking the latter to convey their great appreciation to and praise highly the officers and men who fared remarkably well in the performance they put on and the related support work they did during the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games.

　　Guo Boxiong and Xu Caihou praised the officers and men for their being ever ready to endure hardships, going all out in their work, perfecting their performance constantly and devoting themselves unselfishly, which resulted in adding credit to the Beijing Olympic Games and doing honor to the motherland and the people. For that reason, Both Guo Boxiong and Xu Caihou asked the leaders of the General Political Department of the PLA to convey their cordial greetings and hearty appreciation to those officers and men.
