Chen Xiaogong meets Bulgarian guests

  Chen Xiaogong, assistant chief of general staff of the PLA, met with Major General Stefan Vasilev, chief of staff of the Army of the Bulgarian Armed Forces, and the delegation led by him in Beijing on July 14.

  Chen Xiaogong said that the Chinese government regards Bulgaria as a trustworthy friend and partner. The Chinese side is willing to work together with the Bulgarian side to promote constant development of the Sino-Bulgarian and Sino-European relations. As there has been long-term close exchanges and cooperation between the Chinese and Bulgarian armed forces, the Chinese side is willing to continue to promote the friendly cooperative relations between the two militaries on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit.

  Chen Xiaogong also briefed his guests on the progress of the earthquake relief operation in Sichuan Province and the preparations of the Beijing Olympic Games.

  Stefan Vasilev first expressed his sympathy and condolence to those who died in the Sichuan earthquake. He also expressed the hope that the Bulgarian and Chinese militaries would constantly strengthen their friendly cooperation.
