Xu Caihou, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), met with delegates attending the 10th Youth Work Conference of the PLA on July 10, during which he extended cordial greetings to the delegates and all the young officers and men of the PLA and offered warm congratulations to the advanced units and individuals on behalf of Chairman Hu Jintao and other CMC leaders. He stressed that all young officers and men of the PLA must keep firmly in mind the important instruction of being a new generation in four respects given by Chairman Hu Jintao and the four hopes put forward by Chairman Hu Jintao not long ago to all the youths, that is "to have firm ideal and beliefs, study diligently and assiduously, have hard-working and pioneering spirit, and have noble character", carry forward the great spirit of earthquake rescue and relief, and work conscientiously in high spirits, so as to perform new meritorious services for winning an all-round victory in the quake relief operation and the work of supporting the successful holding of the Beijing Olympic Games, and make new and greater contributions to the better and faster development of the army building.

　　Li Jinzhi, member of the Central Military Commission and director of the General Political Department (GPD) of the PLA met with the delegates along with Xu Caihou.

　　Liu Yongcai, Sun Zhongtong, Liu Zhenqi and Jia Ting'an, deputy directors of the GPD of the PLA and Du Jincai, assistant director of the GPD, Lu Hao, first secretary of the Secretarial of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China and leaders of the General Office of the Central Military Commission also participated in the meeting.
