Chinese President back home from G8 summit outreach session

  BEIJING, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao arrived in Beijing Wednesday evening after attending the Outreach Session of the Group of Eight (G8) Summit from July 7-9.

  The outreach session of the G8 summit was convened at the northern Japanese resort of Toyako on Hokkaido island and attended by leaders of the G8, which groups Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia and the United States, and leaders from five major developing nations, namely, China, Brazil, India, South Africa and Mexico.

  China and the other countries invited to the outreach session held discussions with G8 leaders on a wide range of issues including the world economy, climate change, and food and energy security.

  The Chinese president arrived in Japan on Monday at the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda to attend the outreach session of the G8 summit.
